Spooky Scary Halloween Fines

Spooky+Scary+Halloween+Fines

It is officially time for Halloween! For some San Luis Obispo High School students it may mean candy and trick or treating, and for some it may mean partying until the sun comes up.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department has decided again to take a stand against those who decide to party tonight by doubling the fines for things like noise violations, open containers, and hosting a party with minors drinking.

The doubling of the price of fines could be helpful, but as some people say: when you restrict something, it makes people want to do it more, like using your phone during class or freshmen leaving campus. People that try to be above the law are in danger of a hefty fine, a misdemeanor, and even the possibility of loss of driver’s license.

When asked about the topic, junior Tristyn Meyer said, “the cops need to chill… I just want to party.”

Freshman Skye Seher said, “I don’t think they [the police] should [double the price of fines… it’s just another day in the year.”

But other students may disagree with this as they believe it is good to double fines because it is just something to do to keep people safe and out of trouble.

Whatever you choose to do tonight, make sure you are safe and don’t get into too much trouble. These spooky, scary fines could get you.
