We are going to miss this dude. Here’s what he has to say. Photo Courtesy of Tyler Gerbel. Video Courtesy of TNN Reporter Levi Hastings.
It’s time to say goodbye to one of our beloved math teacher Luke Mayberry. He’s been teaching at San Luis Obispo High School for five years, and he’s now moving on to the next chapter of his career.
“This was my first real teaching job, so I was learning a lot while I was doing it,” said Mayberry. “I think I learned the most working with my newcomer students who are like new to the country, and aren’t speaking much English, they’re just like mostly Spanish speakers. I’ve learned just how to build up the math ideas from the basics.”
Mayberry taught a variety of math courses, and always was great at helping students learn quickly and effectively, and got his students where they needed to be with their math skills. While SLOHS won’t be his permanent home, he’s certainly left a positive impact on the school, and will continue being a great guy during his future endeavors.
But why is he leaving?
“I decided for a new adventure. I’ve been in this town for like seven years because I moved up here to go to college,” said Mayberry.
It’s always good to start a new journey, but although he’s moving on to something new, he says he’ll miss SLOHS.
“I like the students here, I like who I work with, the other math teachers, it’s been a lot of fun. I’ve learned a lot from them, so the whole community and everything, everything has been good here. I’ll miss it all,” said Mayberry.
SLOHS will miss him too, and we wish him the best of luck on his new adventure.
