The spring sport Boys Volleyball at San Luis Obispo High School has been doing great this season with an overall score of 18-4 in varsity and first place in league with a score of 8-1. What does the rest of the season entail?
Boys Volleyball is considered a popular sport to play and is a very well known sport. According to usavolleyball.org boys volleyball is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. and there have been many more opportunities for high schoolers to play this sport in recent years.
“[The team] sometimes gives each other nice compliments and affirmations to encourage us to do better,” said JV player and sophomore Charlie Gillmore.
Going to sports practice after a day at school is very exhausting, luckily with team support our Boys Volleyball team can do their best and learn from their mistakes. Team connection is a very necessary support system for a sport such as Boys Volleyball as it boosts motivation for all the players to win, very important with CIF coming up.
“I think we can go far into CIF and possibly win, I think it depends on where we stand in the divisions and how our player’s school schedules and AP classes align with our games,” said Varsity Co-Captain and senior Canyon Davis.
SLOHS Boys Volleyball has won the CIF tournaments before and with the records of this year’s scores there is a good chance that they can win again in their 2026 season. Fortunately the varsity team and coaches have high hopes for this year’s season as well.
“I feel good about [the season]. They’re working well as a team, they’ve taken on some tough opponents and won several of those games, and they are in a position to win a league title. Plus, it looks like they’re having fun out there,” said athletic director Adam Basch.
The next game will be starting off CIF, with Round 1 taking place on Tuesday, May 5 at 6 p.m. The SLOHS Boys Volleyball team works hard to get as many wins as they have gotten this season and deserve support at their games, watch their next few games Tigers before this year’s season ends!
