The San Luis Obispo High School varsity football team completed its season with a victorious 6-4. Being one of the strongest teams in the league, they dominated other teams. And, when they fell short, they gave their opponents the hardest time possible.
“So far, we’ve been doing great, and I think the last few games, we’ve really been getting it together, and we’ve been improving a lot, and I think we’re still reaching our maximum potential,” said senior Colbin Garrison.
Athletes think that the season has been on the up-trend and the team has significantly improved in skill. Others like how they kept their optimism throughout the season and pushed themselves to be the greatest team they could be.
“I think generally [the football season has] been positive. There have been ups and downs, but I think the team has remained positive, and I believe people are continuing to work and grow. I think we can do a lot of good,” said senior Aidan Dellinger.
Through some hardships and bitter losses, the football team grew as both players and people. However, the team did not lack strength or skill, and were only truly defeated in their own minds.
“It was a fun season, playing with all the seniors and all the upcoming seniors. It was fun to experience the varsity feeling. We faced some tough opponents this year that I felt we could have beaten. We just mentally weren’t in it. And I felt like we had a good team this year. We had the chance to go ten and zero, and we just didn’t take that chance,” said senior Nehemiah Salinas.
The SLOHS varsity football team had an amazing season, driven by optimism and continuous improvement, no matter the circumstances. Let’s give this magnificent group of athletes a pat on the back, Tigers!
