Concert culture is a growing trend at San Luis Obispo High School, where students regularly attend major tours and bring the energy of live music back to campus. Hey Fremont, fix your sign already! Collage courtesy of freshman Venezia Ramirez.
March is here, and major artists are announcing tours that fans will not want to miss.
San Luis Obispo High School students are already debating which concerts are worth the road trip and the ticket price.
From pop and rap to country and rock, this season’s lineup is shaping to be one of the most talked about in recent years.
“I am so excited to see Acid Bath live this year- but I have been wanting in vain to attend a Nirvana concert for the longest time ever,” said freshman Ashton Field.
Pop continues to dominate many students’ playlists, and several big names are heading back on the road. Ed Sheeran is continuing his international stadium “Loop” tour, while Bruno Mars is bringing his high energy arena performances to major U.S. cities and parts of Europe. R&B and pop singer, The Weekend will also continue large scale shows in stadium venues across the country.
“I heard Cardi B is on tour, and I would like to see Cardi B live because her concerts look energetic and fun. She has a big personality and knows how to hype up a crowd,” said sophomore Sherlyn Acosta Dominguez.
Rock fans are also paying attention to this year’s tour calendar. The Foo Fighters are returning to arenas across North America and Europe with their “Take Cover” tour, while Metallica continues its stadium run in major cities. Classic rock listeners are also watching dates from bands like AC/DC, whose large venue performances continue to attract multigenerational crowds.
Global and K-pop artists remain a huge part of student conversations. BTS has announced a highly anticipated world tour with their new album “ARIRANG” with 41 stadium dates across Asia, North America, and Europe, and the UK sold out almost immediately, selling nearly 2.4 million tickets. Demand was so high that additional dates were added and quickly sold out, confirming a total sell-out for the tour.
“I’m really excited for all of the artists touring this year, I wish that I could go see Twice and Aespa! They are one of my favorite girl groups. Near the end of March there is a Jackson Wang concert in Los Angeles which I hope to attend,” said freshman Lesley Rodriguez.
Country and hip hop are equally represented this March. Luke Combs is touring throughout the United States and Europe, while Morgan Wallen continues to headline major stadium venues. In hip hop, Travis Scott and Drake are performing in large arenas across major U.S. cities, drawing attention from students who follow rap and streaming charts closely.
Because most major tours do not stop in SLO, students often look toward Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Sacramento when planning. The cost of tickets, gas, and lodging can add up quickly, which makes choosing the right concert even more important. For many students, attending one of these shows is not just about music. It is about the experience, the atmosphere, and being part of a crowd singing the same lyrics at the same time!
With so many artists across different genres touring at once, March 2026 is shaping up to be a month that students at SLOHS will be watching closely. Whether they are saving money, planning road trips, or refreshing ticket websites, concert season has officially become part of the conversation.
