Freshman Adie Wallace, a multi-sport athlete, has entered San Luis Obispo High School, and she’s excited to take on new opportunities and improve in her sports. Wallace has already found some passions she might want to pursue in her future.
Expressions decided to interview our newest sibling combo.
Expressions: Where are your roots?
Junior Zachary Wallace: I’m from San Francisco. I lived there for twelve years and it’s where I grew up. My family moved to SLO during COVID. They were able to work from home during the pandemic. They always wanted to move back to SLO because they went to college here.
Freshman Adie Wallace: San Francisco, because I lived there for most of my life. It’s colder than San Luis. I lived there up until fifth grade. It’s a lot different than here; it’s more like a city. My parents went to Cal Poly and wanted to move back.
Expressions: What are you passionate about?
Z. Wallace: I play baseball. I’ve been playing it since kindergarten, so that’s around twelve years now. I’m also really interested in cars. I like understanding how cars work and the engineering behind them.
A. Wallace: My schoolwork, I want to earn good grades; my sports include volleyball, soccer, and swimming. Outside of school, I love hanging out with my friends and doing sports. I do Model UN. Becoming better at trying new things and becoming more confident with things, too.
Expressions: What are your biggest influences?
Z. Wallace: My parents are my biggest influences. They showed me what I want to be when I grow up. My dad specifically. My dad is a computer engineer ,and I also want to be an engineer.
A. Wallace: My parents and my friends. They teach me to be a better person. My parents do have a bigger influence on me. My mom has a bigger influence on me.
Expressions: What are you hoping to get out of your time at SLOHS?
Z. Wallace: I’m hoping to get a good high school experience and have fun. I want to go to college so obviously I’m trying to be prepared for college.
A. Wallace: To become a better student and to find things I want to do in the future. I would also like to meet a lot of new people. To grow academically and in my sports.
Expressions: Where are you going?
Z. Wallace: I don’t know where I want to go specifically. I want to see as much of the world as I can. I sort of want to go with the flow. I feel like by seeing the world I can become a more informed person. For college I don’t have a specific place but NYU or Berkeley would be my dream schools.
A. Wallace: After high school, I want to go to college and have a good family. I probably don’t want to continue doing sports in high school. I might want to go to college in LA, San Diego, or UC Berkeley. I might want to be a lawyer.
The Wallaces have big dreams. Expressions is excited to have them on board.
