The New Mustang Lily Svetich

The+New+Mustang+Lily+Svetich

Many talented students attending San Luis Obispo High School have committed to colleges all over the country. When a sports player exceeds in the classroom and on the sports field, it catches a college coach’s attention. Most students that have committed have been playing the sport their whole lives. Senior Lily Svetich has just received a scholarship to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and today we learn more about her.

Expressions: How long have you been playing basketball?

Senior Lily Svetich: I’ve played basketball since third grade.

Expressions: How many years have you been on varsity?

Svetich: I’ve been playing varsity since freshman year, so four years.

Expressions: Why did you decide to commit to Cal Poly?

Svetich: I have been going to Cal Poly games since elementary school, and the women’s basketball team has a great program. I really liked the coaching staff and Cal Poly has Kinesiology, which I wanted to major in.
Expressions: What sets you apart from other athletes?

Svetich: I think that work ethic can set any athlete apart and willingness to put in extra time.

Expressions: Who has supported you the most?

Svetich: My family above all, and my teammates and coaches.

Expressions: What will you miss most about SLOHS?

Svetich: My teammates! And SLOHS librarian Jennifer Sawyer because she is a gem and the library is cool.
