With the fall sports season coming to an end, San Luis Obispo High School students might be wondering how the girls Flag Football’s first season went. The first year players helped bring this team to such a successful season.
“After going nearly undefeated, I feel like I really fulfilled my goal of just getting better at the sport and working with my teammates especially knowing the fact that I have never played the sport before,” said junior Kendall Pedersen.
For a lot of the players on the team, it was their first season playing Flag Football, with it being a new sport to SLOHS.
“I didn’t know how good I was gonna be because it was my first year ever playing it, so my end goal was to get a lot of playing time, and I think I accomplished that,” said junior Finley Pearse.
Not only was a high performance the team’s only achievements, but the team also shared many strong bonding moments and made the season lots of fun.
“I definitely plan on playing the sport again next year, it was so much fun, we played well, and we had lots of bonding experiences together as a team,” said junior Tina Gonzalez.
At the end of the season a lot of players fulfilled their goals and had fun, and are preparing to play next year as well.
The varsity team went 12-1-2 with a ranking of 208th best team in the country.
With the team’s first season coming to an end, the Girls Flag Football team has not failed at showing Tiger pride through sports, and will continue to play amazing with a great team spirit next year and the upcoming years.
