Weekly Sports Update: Tiger Athletics Spring Into A New Season

  A new sports season at San Luis Obispo High School has begun, and spring sports are up to bat with events including county-wide tournaments and league games.

  This edition of the Expressions weekly sports update is here to provide all the latest information on recent Tiger scores and events!

 

Boys Volleyball

  Boys Volleyball is doing a great job this season. They are 12-5 overall and 3-1 in league. Varsity had a game against Dos Pueblos on April 4 and lost 3-0. They have an upcoming game on April 11 against Santa Ynez so wish them luck! – freshman Sarah Kelley

 

Girls Beach Volleyball

  Girl’s Beach Volleyball has started their season very well. Their overall score is 6-2 and they are currently ranked 1st in the league. In their last game, the Tigers fell to Arroyo Grande with a close score of 2-1 on March 27. The team will play Mission College Prep on Tuesday, April 9 at Cal Poly at seven p.m. Tigers, show up and support our Girls Beach Volleyball players! – junior Phoebe Drazsnzak

 

Stunt

  The Stunt team is working hard this season, winning five games so far. Over spring break they played a tough non-league game against Paso Robles on Wednesday, March 27, where they unfortunately lost 20-3. They have two more upcoming league games against Paso Robles and Atascadero on Wednesday, April 10. – sophomore Ruby Blackburn

 

Softball

  Last Wednesday, both SLOHS softball teams battled the King City Mustangs at home and unfortunately both teams lost. Varsity has an overall of five wins out of their ten games but are off to a strong start in league with four wins out of their five league games. Unfortunately, our JV softball tigers have yet to win a game. – sophomore Luca Petterson

 

Baseball

  The SLOHS Baseball team is in the middle of a busy month of games. They are currently hosting a county-wide tournament, and faced off against El Capitan and La Quinta on Thursday April 4. Unfortunately they fell to both teams, 2-6 and 10-11 respectively. As of now, their recent rough patch has led them to a 4-13 record. Good luck to our team in their future games! – freshman Santiago Baltodano

 

Boys Tennis

  Boys Tennis is doing very well, they currently have a season score 10-4. On April 4 the team traveled to San Marcos to play, and while the boys fought hard they were defeated 6-12. On Tuesday, April 9 Varsity will travel to St. Joseph for a game while the JV team will face Pioneer Valley here at home so make sure to go! – sophomore Vyolet Burrus

 

Boys Golf

  Varsity won their first tournament a week ago by one stroke, pushing them into first place in the Mountain League. Senior Noah Kimbrell was the SLOCC Tournament co-medalist, putting him third in the Mountain League Cup. Furthermore, they will have a tournament at Hunter Ranch Golf Course next week. – freshman Miles Blackwell

 

Girls & Boys Swim and Dive

  On March 27 the Swim and Dive teams traveled to Fresno to compete against Paso Robles. SLOHS won 116 to 54. Junior Cat Poletti won the 50 and 500 yard free. Senior Matthew Perje won the 50 and 100 yard free. Senior Parker McCarty won the 500 yard free and 200 yard Individual Medley. The next meet is the “Meet of Champions” on April 12-13 in Walnut, CA. There will be 65 teams competing. SLOHS is currently 9th in the state, and 1st place in the CCAA Mountain League. Great season so far! – freshman Isabella Balicki

 

Girls & Boys Track and Field

  Girls Track and Field are absolutely dominating! Boys Track and Field are doing great. Their first meet after being back from spring break is this Saturday in King City with thirty teams total. – senior Tea Fischer
