San Luis Obispo High School seniors are graduating very soon and have tons of advice they could give to their younger selves. Here is some advice from seniors to freshmen that will help them through their future years at SLOHS.
Starting high school can feel exciting and very stressful at the same time with learning a new campus and balancing homework, sports and social life. Many upperclassmen say the biggest mistake freshmen year is not getting involved enough. Seniors encourage freshmen to be very outgoing and get out of their comfort zone.
“Definitely being more involved and maybe joining ASB,” said senior Carly Sass.
Seniors also recommend freshmen getting involved in activities and extracurriculars around campus such as clubs and sports. This can lead to students making more friends and feeling connected to the school community.
“Joining the Dance Team and the STUNT/Cheer Team gave me so many opportunities to make friends and I will cherish those people for the rest of my life,” said senior Ruby Ancheta-Johnson.
The amount of classes available are tremendous at SLOHS, every elective you can think of there is. There are sixteen CTE pathways at this school.
“Getting involved with the school in any way possible and even just talking to people you usually don’t talk to,” senior Kylie Kasel.
Making friends shouldn’t be scary most of the time people are looking for new friends and want to talk to you.
Hey freshmen, enjoy the advice and the last two weeks here as freshmen!
