San Luis Obispo High School ASB students work diligently to put together the spring sports rally. The sports rally is an event put together in order to honor our spring sports achievements and get more students involved in supporting our teams.
The rally is a moment for the sports that normally have less attention to get the attention they deserve. During the rally each sport is given their own moment. Each sport is equally important during this rally.
“I think having recognition for sports that don’t really get popularized or recognized as much is important. For example, boys tennis. There’s a lot of sports at SLOHS that unfortunately are not as popular as others. This rally is a moment for all sports to be acknowledged equally,” said junior Scarlett Ruiz.
Rally’s have been under-appreciated throughout the years and it’s important for students to acknowledge the behind the scenes of putting them together. ASB is a strong team working with the SLOHS staff to put on these spectacular events.
Rallies are a place to bond with people. This rally is going to be especially important to experience. This rally is going to be special compared to the rest of the prior ones.
“By random, each class, during your third period will get a wristband color, and when you get to the big gym, you’ll just go to whatever color you have on your wristband and sit down,” said junior Audrey Youngs.
The main goal for this is just to engage with different people, not to sit with the same people every rally. It will also help students engage with our amazing spring sports and those who may have spiked an interest for the 2027 season. Students are getting the opportunity to meet new people who could possibly end up becoming a new friend or even a teammate.
“The rallies are fun to plan, we take a lot of time to practice them beforehand. It is really exciting. I am excited to acknowledge our spring sports athletes this Thursday at the rally,” says sophomore Taya Corpuz-Carr.
ASB has put together this amazing opportunity to honor our spring season athletes. As well as, make new pals throughout the creative seating system at this rally. Bonding through the love of a sport is one way students can meet new people.
