San Luis Obispo High School is known recently for having fantastic sports programs, one of the many with seasons in the Fall trimester, is Girls Golf. The 2025-2026 season has been one of the best seasons in recent years, and the team is excited to see what happens next.
“The season is going very well! It’s a lot of fun with a great team and amazing coaches! So far we have been undefeated in all our league matches which hasn’t happened in the three prior years I have been here,” said senior Sophia Pierson.
Most recently, the team placed first in the Mountain league finals, for the first time in five years. In addition to this, Gabby Foster committed the amazing feat of a hole-in-one on Monday. Next up, they’ll be going to CIF next week in Tulare.
With the end of the season being near. It’s been a great time to reflect on favorite memories and prepare to enter the CIF season refreshed.
“My favorite memory of this season is definitely the van rides and team dinners after matches. Everyone is tired but I really enjoy being together with the team, especially after a win,” said sophomore Ellery Devitt.
It’s been an exciting season, with a very welcoming team.
“If someone were thinking about trying out for golf, I’d tell them to just try it and don’t be nervous because the team is welcoming and you’ll learn a lot! Whether you’ve played golf before or not, it’s easy to learn and enjoy. Golf is so fun and rewarding and it’s great to see that progress. Just showing up and having an open mind is super important for golf and you’ll make lots of memories along the way!” said Devitt.
If students are interested in joining the golf team next year, or any sport for that matter, it’s important to just put yourself out there.
“[Golf is] competitive and I got to meet new people,” said freshman Giuliana Caliboso.
Being sure to enter every match with a positive attitude and determination to do well has been key for the team.
“Be positive, have fun, and try your best! That’s all anyone can ask,” said Pierson.
And of course, making sure to swing their clubs with purpose.
“Always lock in. And hit and hit it far,” said Caliboso.
Wish the team luck in the league finals! Always hit it far, Tigers!
