Today, there are many eco-friendly alternatives for saving power and improving the environment, and students at San Luis Obispo High School are considering buying electric cars because they save money on gas and are more friendly to the environment.
“I think electric cars are good because they are better for the environment and that is very important,” said sophomore Zachary Wallace.
Electric cars have lots of energy and also can be very good for the environment and help people save money instead of spending it on gas. Electric cars provide a more environmentally friendly approach to driving as well, and students believe it’s making a difference.
“I know there is the argument that many of the materials used to produce electric cars are bad for the environment. However, as a society, we need to be switching to better options, even if those options aren’t the best. As we switch to using more electric cars, I feel confident that better, more environmentally conscious ways of producing them will be found. Also, electric cars are usually made to be very efficient, something that not all gas cars need to be,” said senior Greta Miller.
Electric cars may have some drawbacks but they are gaining popularity among students and teachers with people switching over to using electric vehicles.
“People are waking up to the reality that climate change is real and that humans are the main drivers of that climate change. Switching to renewable energy sources is the only hope we have to reduce our impact on the environment,” said computer science teacher Steven Crow.
As climate change is gaining more and more awareness, it is more common to see people making sacrifices to save the environment with things like electric cars. The American consumer has a choice of how big their carbon footprint is.
Some 25 billion liters of gasoline equivalent were displaced worldwide as a result of the use of electric cars in 2022. This volume has been steadily growing up from around 150 million liters of gasoline equivalent in 2011 as electric cars gained more popularity among consumers and automakers.
Electric cars are changing the destructive nature of public transportation. These cars will reduce carbon emissions and are a better alternative for the future of the environment.
At SLOHS, students and teachers are making an effort to reduce their carbon footprint by choosing electric cars to drive to and from school. Electric cars are the future and will reduce overall carbon emissions from humans.
