The Women’s World Cup is an event that students at San Luis Obispo High School will be either watching or attending. It has been held in various areas around the world, and brings the soccer community together to watch it. This event is a highly televised and renown tournament that only takes place every four years. This year it will be held in France starting on June 7.
There are many teams in the running for victory and many bets that come along with it. According to Sportsline USA, France, Germany, England and Japan are the top five predictions to win.
Sophomore Natalia Grondin will be attending to watch the finals and she predicted that “Germany is going to dominate because they have Tabea Kemme who plays for Arsenal which is the best team in Premier League”.
Though USA is in the top seed with a 2-1 chance of winning they are underappreciated. The crowd size differs greatly between the men and womens games. Even with the growing amount of equality and possibly a similar or higher skill set they are not quite as popular. While Senior Eduardo Torres says “ I like Alex Morgan and hope to see USA in the finals.”
