Students at SLOHS constantly have their earbuds in and are always listening to music. Whether it’s Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Steve Lacy, or Beyonce, the spectrum of music that students listen to has an infinite range.

  Expressions interviewed several students about the artists and genres they listen to.

Expressions: What artists do you predominantly listen to?

Senior Sefton Strickland: I really like Tyler, The Creator and Kanye.

Senior Lauren Weyel: Leith Ross and Phoebe Bridgers are some of my favorites.

Senior Jane Culbreath: I really like Taylor Swift, Hozier, and Mitski.

Expressions: What kind of music genres are you listening to?

Junior Atticus Drake: I listen to Classic Rock, alternative, and honestly pretty much everything.

Weyel: I listen to a lot of indie music.

Sophomore Isaiah Escobedo: Just country music.

Strickland: I listen to a lot of new rap. 

  Young audiences are shaping the music industry. With access to music streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, and Pandora, teens can simply and easily expand the kind of music they listen to.
