The iconic break-up anthem singer/songwriter sensation Adele just dropped a single off of her upcoming album “30”. Released on October 15, the piano ballad titled “Easy On Me” already has San Luis Obispo High School students listening on repeat.

“I was so happy she released a song. It’s been forever since she has made new music and ‘Easy On Me’ did not disappoint. Some parts of the song definitely reminded me of her song ‘When We Were Young’ probably because of the subject matter and piano ensemble. I’m really looking forward to the album,” said senior Emmersen Hill.

After a five year hiatus from releasing music, “30” is her fourth album, set to be released on November 19, 2021. Not much is known about what the other tracks entail, as on music streaming sites each track is labeled “Track 1” through “Track 12”, minus track two, which is “Easy On Me”.

Rumored to be, somewhat, about her divorce, the listener is left with a heavily relatable, heart break anthem. With lyrics such as “I changed who I was to put you first / But now I give up / Go easy on me baby” anyone can understand the pain of a failed relationship. Students who have recently been through a break up will appreciate the lyrics as they cope with the new reality in their rooms on Saturday night. But then they should get up and go to homecoming.

As November 19 is quickly approaching, students can refresh their memory of the great Adele by listening to some of her recognizable hits. Most of her top charting songs come from her album “25”, nevertheless “Chasing Pavements” and “Set Fire to the Rain” will always be staples in her discography.

Make sure to mark your calendars for November 19, tigers!
