Recently going Diamond with their hit single ‘XO TOUR Llif3’, Lil Uzi Vert is one of today’s biggest rock stars with many fans at San Luis Obispo High School.

A little while back Uzi Changed their pronouns to they/them on Instagram, and while many praised Uzi for coming out, it also drew a lot of scrutiny and confusion from fans.

“I feel like the arguments aren’t really necessary. It’s none of our business what’s going on inside their head,” said freshman Che Brocco.

As a celebrity who portrays a lifestyle of sex, drugs, and money, it seemed odd to many fans that Uzi would be transgender. This combined with supposed transphobia in Uzi’s past left many fans unsure of what to think about their new identity.

On Their 2019 single ‘That’s a Rack’ Uzi rapped the verse, “I was checkin’ my DMs, found out she was a man/ I can’t DM never, ever again/ Lucien on my vision, that’s the only thing that’s tran.”

Many interpreted this as transphobic and hateful toward the LGBTQ+ community.

This shocked many fans as Uzi had previously shown support to the LGBTQ+ community by wearing rainbow-themed outfits at performances during pride month.

If anything their actual transformation has brought more support to the LGBTQ+ community. One post on the r/liluzivert subreddit talked about trying to be more supportive and learn more about the different sexualities because of Uzi.
