By now, most San Luis Obispo High School students who actively listen to the hip-hop genre have heard of rapper Lil Uzi Vert’s new album “Eternal Atake”.
Lil Uzi Vert finally released the album March 6 and released “Eternal Atake (Deluxe) – LUV vs the World 2” on March 13. The deluxe included 14 more songs and featured a variety of popular artists, putting him at the top of the charts for two weeks in a row. In fact, all the bonus songs on the deluxe album made the Billboards top 100.
“Personally I’ve been waiting on this album for basically 2 years so I was psyched when it finally dropped. Also when he dropped a lot of people thought it wasn’t that amazing, but then when he dropped the deluxe which was ’LUV vs the World 2’ everyone was like wow this is amazing. And the deluxe had most of the songs that were leaked in previous years on Soundcloud so that was sick to hear also,” said Junior Bayley Purlmutter.
A number of the album’s songs were leaked in previous years on Soundcloud, which added to the hype that Uzi created for this album. Purlmutter
“I think it was beyond well deserved,” said Purlmutter.
On the contrary, senior Rell Morgan completely disagrees.
“It’s not as good as his other albums, but the production quality was really good and the features were interesting. It’s not what it was made out to be though,” said Morgan.
“The one with chief keef is ok but kinda repetitive. I don’t like ‘wassup’ that much but it’s ok. Honestly Uzi had some surprising features in this album that weren’t my favorite, but what slapped was ’yessirskiii’ featuring 21 savage,” said Freshman Gavin Hori.
Overall SLOHS students were content with the outcome of “Eternal Atake,” but some expected more out of this album than what Uzi actually delivered.
