At San Luis Obispo High School seniors have a choice to take an AP English class or a course called Expository Reading and Writing or “ERWC” for short. This class is based on preparing students for college level reading, thinking, and writing .
SLOHS English teachers Jeff Leebrick, Jane Hawley and Newspaper/ English teacher Scott Nairne teach this course to get seniors ready for the future.
“The ERWC course does not seem so bad, I think it will really help us with college classes later which is nice. Plus, Leebrick makes it fun and exciting,” said senior Katie Cole.
Some seniors would rather take ERWC to understand what is to come when college comes around. Not only does Leebrick prepare us for college, but also for the future
“ERWC is a class made by the California State University System so seniors can write better and so they don’t get put into a less suffocated classroom,” said Leebrick.
It doesn’t matter what college you are going to, because they will all utilize the same skills. Just make sure you swing by one of the English teacher’s classrooms to ask them what the class is all about.
