Students at San Luis Obispo High School are starting to get excited for summer break, because of the heat and no school. Long beach days with music is something students looked forward to, but what kind of music do they listen to during the summer. Expressions talked to students to find out what kind of music they like to listen to during summer.
Expressions: What do you like to listen to during the summer?
Former senior Caitin Grierson: I love to listen to some throwbacks like “cold cold man” by Saint Motel and “out of my league” by Fitz and the Tantrums.
Former senior Jeffrey Perry: I like to listen to some dubstep.
Junior Zoe Bumen: During the summer I like the listen to reggae artists, pop, and indie.
Expressions: Why do you like to listen to this kind of music?
Grierson: This music just puts me in a good mood and makes me want to chill out with friends.
Perry: I like to listen to it because it is relaxing.
Bumen: I listen to this kind of music because it makes me feel happy and puts me in a good mood.
Expressions: Do you listen to the same at the beach?
Grierson: At the beach, I like to listen to an Australian band called Gang of Youths.
Perry: At the beach, I listen to classical.
Bumen: Yes I listen to the same moat the beach.
Expressions: Are you open to listening to other kinds of music?
Grierson: I love all types of music like R&B, rap, etc.
Perry: I also like Bon Jovi.
Bumen: Yes I am open to listening to other kinds of music.
Expressions: Is it any difference from summer music to other times a year music?
Grierson: My summer music is more chill and “hang out with friends with the windows down music”.
Perry: I listen to it all the time.
Bumen: Yes I think there is a difference from summer music to other times of the year because during the summer there is no school, so I let loose and listen to music that puts me in a good mood.
