The SLOHS girls’ golf team traveled to the Cypress Ridge course in Arroyo Grande on Monday, October 20th, to compete in the mountain league finals. The girls placed first and became Mountain League champs for the first time in five years! Along with this accomplishment, a sophomore, Gabby Foster, achieved a hole-in-one on a par 3.
Expressions decided to interview Gabby Faster about her amazing feat at the team’s last match.
Expressions: How did you feel after you got your hole-in-one?
Sophomore Gabby Foster: At first, I couldn’t believe it. I was very emotional and even cried after I realized that it actually happened. Altogether, though, I felt a mixture of happiness, greatness, and a bunch of other things that I can’t put into words.
Expressions: Were you shocked when you found out you got a hole-in-one?
Foster: It definitely shocked me. I just thought that I had a good shot, and I didn’t even believe it at first.
Expressions: How did this change your outcome of the match, or how you felt when you were playing for the rest of the match?
Foster: My score was definitely my lowest yet, and when I continued playing, although I was still shaky, it boosted my confidence, which led me to have the best golf match that I ever played in.
Expressions: What went through your mind after you realized the ball was in the cup?
Foster: A whole lot of things, really, but the main thing was how I only played this sport for about three years now, and I never thought that I was capable of this until I actually saw my blue-green ball in the cup.
Expressions: Can you describe the emotions you felt in this special moment?
Foster: I can’t describe fully in words the emotions that I felt, but I mainly felt a whole load of shock and happiness drop on me.
Fosters’ hole-in-one was an unforgettable moment in her high school golf career as the odds of an amateur making a hole in one are 1 and 12,500, truly amazing. So, tigers, when you see Gabby in the halls, give her a huge congrats!
