Fall officially began on September 22, bringing a change in the colors of the leaves and cooler temperatures. San Luis Obispo High School students are excited to share their favorite things about the season. Whether it’s visiting pumpkin patches, going to haunted houses, or enjoying autumn festivals, there are plenty of activities that make fall a favorite time of year for many. From cozy gatherings to seasonal treats, there’s something about this time of year that brings everyone together.
“If I had time during fall, I would be going to the pumpkin patch at Avila Valley Barn with my friends, and I would probably be going to the hay maze, but I’m really excited for Halloween,” said sophomore Lily Kienow.
Halloween is a really popular and widely celebrated holiday by many. Trick or treating is a big part of the festivities, and annually, Americans are expected to spend around 3.9 billion on candy alone. As this widely known and loved holiday continues to inch closer every day is going to start to feel like fall.
The season between the months of September through November brings all sorts of activities and things to do, whether it’s watching familiar fall favorite shows or going outside to experience some of the brisk autumn weather at a pumpkin patch, a hay or corn maze.
“During fall, I really like going on walks with my dog and seeing the different colored leaves on trees, and also going to haunted houses with my friends,” said sophomore Serena Anderson.
The Fall season can bring enjoyment through the simplest things, whether it’s enjoying nature’s beauty on walks or sharing fun experiences with friends. The combination of outdoor adventures and seasonal festivities makes autumn a time to appreciate.
“I like to hang out with my friends downtown and play water polo in the fall. I’m also going to learn to surf, because fall is a good season for surfing as well as winter. In Italy, we have way more nightlife, so I have more to do, but there is not much to do here,” said senior Vittorio Staudacher.
As fall unfolds, students are embracing the season’s opportunities for connection. From outdoor adventures to cherished or new traditions, this time of year encourages everyone to come together, create memories, and enjoy what autumn has to offer, creating a reminder to appreciate the little things that make each season special.
