Music taste among San Luis Obispo High School students is rich and diverse. Many students are awaiting new releases from popular artists and bands, such as Deftones, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Kid Cudi, Laufey, and more. Expressions reached out to some of these students. Here is what they shared about these upcoming albums and recent releases.
“The new Deftones album is really cool, and it sounds like a lot of their older songs. This new album has a dark and interesting feel to it,” said freshman Claire Jones.
Deftones recently released the album “Private Music”.
Tigers with a flare for alternative metal should definitely check it out, as it a must listen for fans who enjoy their classic sound.
On the other hand, many students tune into what may be the most popular genre, pop music.
“I’m so excited for Taylor Swift’s new album, ‘The Life Of a Showgirl’. Seems like it’s going to be a lot of pop songs which she hasn’t done in a while so it’ll be cool!” said freshman Tori Simms.
Pop music remains one of the most popular genres amongst students. There is definitely newer mainstream pop music for Tigers to be excited about.
“I’m really excited for ‘Man’s Best Friend’ because I’ve liked all of her music before, and I’ve been waiting for a Sabrina Carpenter album,” said freshman Natalie Getten.
With so many anticipated releases on the horizon, students are finding new ways to connect with music and each other. Whether it’s through playlists, album reviews, or just talking about their favorite artists, SLOHS’ music fans are making the most of this exciting time in music.
