The beloved sport of football is back at San Luis Obispo High School after coming first in league last year.
“I think we have a really good shot in league this year,” said junior Zion Hegg.
The 2024 Tiger football team made it to the quarterfinals, giving the 2025 team big shoes to fill.
“The team looks good this year; last year we did great, hopefully this year is going to be greater,” said junior Bear Plemons.
Many of the players on the 2024 team were seniors who graduated that year, so there is some speculation on how the team will do this year.
“Defensively, it will come down to how quickly the players adjust to the speed of varsity and their learning curves for their defensive positions. I’m optimistic because these young athletes are great people and work hard,” said football coach Kobi Ikenoyama.
Nine out of the eleven defensive starters from last year will be replaced, leaving a lot of open space for incoming varsity players.
Make sure to come out and support the football players, Tigers!
