Summer basketball at San Luis Obispo High School is happening, and the program is welcoming the incoming freshman talent while saying farewell to our cherished seniors. The summer season is to meet the team and see what the competition is like. It also shows the coaches who is putting in the extra work and who isn’t.
“It’s gonna be really fun, I think it’s a time to put yourself against your old teammates, but at the same time build chemistry,” said junior Isaac Burgess.
Summer basketball is the first two weeks of summer and they have one practice before their first game which is the same day. There are a lot of incoming freshman players that bring a new sense of style into the sport. SLOHS’s basketball program will be refreshed with these new styles and skills.
“I am looking forward to seeing new competition and new players from farther away,” said freshman Blake Ciraulo.
The SLOHS summer league will be playing against local schools such as Atascadero High School, Arroyo Grande High School, and Morro Bay High School.
“I think it’s building chemistry, getting experience playing varsity teams and tournaments are gonna be lit. It’s gonna be fun cooking Nishan and Logan,” said senior Emanuel Jorgensen.
The SLOHS summer basketball team is also going down to University of California Santa Barbara for a tournament where they will face competition from other schools outside of SLO county.
Summer basketball is coming up sooner than later, so be ready to cheer on your tigers and put in that work!
