The “Thunderbolts” movie officially aired May 2, and many San Luis Obispo High School students have seen it already. It has one of the highest ratings on the Letterboxd website out of marvel movies, and the characters are being called “the new Avengers.”
“It was funny, it had characters that I care about, and I liked the U.S. agent and Red Guardian,” said junior Tanyon Kabinski.
This movie assembles a team of anti-heroes and reformed villains for a very important mission. A new hero is entered, named “Sentry”, he is said to be more powerful than all the Avengers combined. This movie has high-stakes action, complex character relationships, and moral openness.
“It was really fun to watch and the characters were really funny, I think it’s cool to see a different type of marvel and avengers and it’s like a different kind of theme,” said Junior Calvin Nemetz.
This film has quite an impressive cast, consisting of actors Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, and Lewis Pullman. This team is forced to undergo missions that the original Avengers normally wouldn’t tackle. They are forced to confront external and internal enemies.
“I haven’t seen it yet, but I am really excited to see it, and I am excited to see Sentry. I think he is gonna be cool,” said sophomore Owen O’connor.
This movie is expected to push the limits of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie balances action with instances of dark humor. This movie introduces a new age of the MCU, with younger heroes and new storylines that integrate modern issues into their world.
