Monty Oum, a popular web based animator, has died at the age of 33. He was the co-creator of the online media company Rooster Teeth. He died of a severe allergic reaction ten days after being put in a coma.
“It’s very upsetting”, said freshman Erik Viovode. Not only was Oum, a co-creator of Rooster Teeth, but he also was lead animator of popular web series “Red vs Blue”.
He also was the creator of popular web series “RWBY”. “RWBY” was a viral hit from its release on July 19, 2013. Not only did Oum create “RWBY” but he also directed it, wrote it, and was a voice actor.
Oum was also very revolutionary for animation. He was the one to introduce motion capture in “Red vs Blue”. Oum’s work as animator really made “Red vs Blue” what it is today.
Rooster Teeth is Oum’s biggest work. It is a media based website with two Youtube channels spawned from it: “Rooster Teeth” and “LetsPlay”. Rooster Teeth has over 8 million subscribers, and “LetsPlay” has over 3 million. “It’s really sad and caught me off guard”, said freshman Devlen Rourke. Oum’s death shocked all fans of his work.

R.I.P. Monty. Your death was so unexpected. At least he was surrounded by his loved ones before his passing.
