Summer can be really enjoyable and lively, but it can also be boring and feel like you’re stuck in a rut. Here are some fun activities during your long break!
Students can go to downtown SLO. Downtown SLO has fun stores to shop at and activities to do. On Thursdays there is Farmers Market, where a bunch of little pop up stores are set up outside on the street. There are local flowers, corn, produce, jewelry, popcorn and much more.
This is a perfect time to get out and about with friends and go hangout downtown in the evening.
“I really like to lay out in my backyard and tan while reading a book. I also love going to little cafes such as Del Monte. Going to the gym is definitely something I like doing in the summer. And I like thrifting and going to boutiques downtown,” said senior Ava Mccall.
Students can also hangout at the beach. Avila, Pismo, Cayucos and Morro Bay are great places to go if you want to enjoy a gorgeous view of the ocean. Students can also get sunkissed and get a perfect tan! Some of these beaches have Junior Guards as well which students can sign up for.
“My favorite thing to do in the summer would be going to the beach and going to chipotle,” said sophomore Mischa Beautz.
Going to the movies is always such a good idea for something to do when students get bored. Even just watching a movie at home is a great way to relax and help students beat boredom.
Students should make sure to hangout with friends.
“I love to go to the beach and go hiking with my friends. I really like going out to eat and getting Acai bowls. Also I enjoy going to Urban Outfitters, CCS and Moondoggies and my favorite thing to do is going to the fair,” said sophomore Ruby Latta.
During the summer, it is very important to spend time with your peers because not having school prevents some kids from seeing their friends, so go grab coffee or go to the beach and have some fun!
