The year is coming to an end and many students and staff at San Luis Obispo High School have big plans for going out with a bang during New Year’s Eve. For some, the end of 2018 is a relief, while others are hanging onto every last second of December, not ready to start 2019 yet. From parties to watching fireworks from the comfort of homes, New Year’s Eve is a good excuse to get together with friends to celebrate the coming year.
“For New Year’s Eve this year, my family and I are going to Mammoth. We usually ski, go ice skating, and watch fireworks,” said sophomore Raquel Kalpakoff.
New Year’s Eve is a fun time to get together with loved ones and reminisce on old experiences that took place throughout the year. Staying at home and watching the ball drop is also a fun way to celebrate while staying at home.
“I’m staying at home with family and friends and watching the ball drop in New York,” said sophomore Sophia Silacci.
Whether one is staying in or going out, there are plenty of good events held in San Luis Obispo County to celebrate the new year. Pismo Beach offers a good firework show, as well as a polar bear plunge on January 1, 2019. Beaches all along the coast also have polar bear plunges to participate in on New Year’s Day.
“For New Year’s Day, I’m going to do a polar plunge with my friends in Pismo! I’m super excited!” said junior Simone Gabriel.
New Year’s Eve is a fun time to get together with friends and family and celebrate the old year’s endings and the new year’s beginnings. No matter where someone is, there’s always something to do to end the year with a bang.
