San Luis Obispo High School athletics has plenty to be proud of, bolstering quite a few very talented organizations. SLOHS boys soccer is just one of the extremely dominant forces this year and is currently ranked first in the state and twelfth in the nation for high school boys soccer. Having won league the last two years, the team is looking to maintain their streak and progress to take the CIF title as well. Expressions interviewed senior varsity player Logan Axberg about his thoughts on the team and the upcoming season.
Expressions: What is the team’s current record?
Senior Logan Axberg: We are 6-0.
Expressions: How would you say the season is shaping up?
Axberg: We started out not really as a team, but we are finally figuring it out. We have just been ballin.
Expressions: Do you think you are a more cohesive team this year than the last few?
Axberg: I would say so, everyone is just like one friend group, so it’s cool.
Expressions: Who do you think will be the toughest matchup this year?
Axberg: Probably Pioneer Valley as usual, or Santa Maria.
Expressions: Do you foresee yourself winning league this year?
Axberg: Oh yeah, for the third year in a row, and the ultimate goal is CIF.
Expressions: Do you think anyone on the team is going to play past high school?
Axberg: I think probably [junior] Brandon Dolezal, he’s a baller.
