Over six San Luis Obispo High School students will be performing in CORE Dance Company’s 22nd annual Rhythms show. The first performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, and the second will occur at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20. Rhythms will be held by the Performing Arts Center at the California Polytechnic State University Spanos Theater. Tickets are priced between $18 and $30 and are available here. The recital will include over twenty different dance numbers, as well as a slideshow in recognition of SLOHS seniors Bailey Vaskov and Emily Threlkel.
“It’s my senior year so it will be very special; also Bailey Vaskov, Mia Patti and I will be doing a trio titled ‘Until you’re down’ which I’m super excited for,” said Threlkel.
Rhythms will be both a tribute to the graduating dancers as well as a variation of other dances performed by the company as a whole.
“Each dance is a different style… I’m personally looking forward to the ‘Hunger of the pines” dance which is about human interaction with the forest and how we are constantly chopping down trees,” said CORE Dance Company member and SLOHS junior Daisy Miller.
The different styles range from jazz to lyrical and were created by the company’s talented choreographers. It is guaranteed there will be something for everyone.
“Because it is a local dance center that students from SLOHS attend, I think it’s really important to go and support all their hard work,” said junior Jenny Dotzler.
CORE’s 2016 Rhythms show will feature the skill as well as the technique in each of their dancers and all students are encouraged to come and support their peers.
