After Netflix’s killer “Tiger King” series blew up, the movie streaming service has tested their odds again with the series “Outerbanks”.
San Luis Obispo High School students have taken a particular liking to this show because it is based on a group of four adventurous teenagers risking their lives for a treasure hunt, thus making it easier for a connection to be made with age. Taking place in North Carolina and Virginia, this show offers a different lifestyle than what our coastal communities know, and allows us to feel fearless in our escapism while still being stuck at home in California.
“It is adventurous and gives us a glimpse on how fun it will be to hangout with our friends after quarantine,” said junior Cypris Hogan.
While some are drawn in because of the show’s sense of adventure, and the cliff hanging plot, others love it more for the attractive actors, such as american actor Chase Stokes who plays John B.
“He is very natural and just very good for the eye to look at. Also he is always sweaty and shirtless which makes it even better,” said junior Zoe Bumen.
The one season show makes for a great escape from reality but at times can be superficial and easily played out.
Though topics such as child abuse, in addition to a common struggle of power and wealth are played out, this show may be surface level for some.
Understandably, this may be why many high school girls and boys are going crazy about it. See for yourself. The show is currently streaming on Netflix.
