Students at San Luis Obispo High School have the opportunity to have their own locker at school. Lockers are meant to keep your books and belongings in, however, students don’t use them, as they are impractical and not ideal.
“The lockers are way too small,” said senior Helle Furuseth. “I would love to keep stuff like my jacket there, or my work-out clothes for activities after school, but there is no space.”
The lockers are very narrow, and only have room for books, and other smaller items. San Luis Obispo is a place where it is very chilly in the mornings but gets very hot around lunch. Dressing in layers is crucial. If the lockers were bigger, students would not have to carry around huge jackets or stuffed backpacks.
“I never even bothered to sign up for a locker,” said senior Grayson Perlmutter. “I simply don’t have time to get to the locker in between periods, as the lockers are not always near my classes.”
Classes at SLOHS are scattered all across campus. With only seven minutes between each period, students rarely have time to access their locker.
“I just hope that, after the school is renovated, we get bigger lockers to store all our stuff in. And maybe they’ll be better distributed too,” said senior Anneke Moersdorf.
