At San Luis Obispo High School, students eagerly anticipate the freedom that summer break brings. Without early classes or packed schedules, summer is a time to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with friends.
“My sleep schedule in the summer is just whenever I want to wake up,” said senior Celine Schroeter.
Taking advantage of the summer break free time that we have is crucial because during the school year, class starts at 8:30 p.m. The break from early morning calls can give students time to relax and reset before the new year.
“I have not because I like to make plans with my friends, and normally, it makes me want to stay up later,” said sophomore Taya Corpuz-Carr.
Enjoying the freedom of summer break with the people you enjoy most is an excellent use of the long time we have off. It can also improve your mood and mental status throughout the summer months.
“I feel like putting your Instagram or TikTok away is helpful because that can waste time and take away from the fun summer break opportunities we have,” said sophomore June Scott.
Students have many fun and enriching activities to engage in during the summertime that most take for granted, as social media and technology use get normalized.
Summer gives students a chance to unwind, connect with others, and take a break from screens. By making the most of their time off, they can return to school refreshed and ready.
