On the February 24 one year anniversary of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, a human chain is planned in Germany, from the cities Münster to Osnabrück.
Those two cities are important because those are where the Treaties of Westphalia was signed, marking the end of the Thirty Year War.
“These actions being taken by civilians could be means for change in what I see as a guilty conflict between Russia and the world. No civilian in Russia will ever see it and that’s the side we need to convince,” says sophomore Nolan Evers.
People are expected to show up in the 41 miles route between Osnabrück and Münster Mainly standing on side walks or bike lanes, only sometimes crossing the streets. It is supposed to close at 4 to 4:15 p.m. and will connect around forty thousand people.
“I really like the idea of a peach chain, it brings people together for a good cause and can maybe actually do something, which is good,” says senior Kyona Flores.
Actually human peace chains are a really good way to make a change in a peaceful way!
