San Luis Obispo High School students are getting hyped for the Super Bowl this year, where the Los Angeles Rams will take on the Cincinnati Bengals. Throughout the halls, you can hear students talking strategy and making predictions about the upcoming game on Sunday, February 13.
“I don’t really care too much about football, but I’m pulling for the Bengals this time around. Both teams fought their way to get to the top, but I think that the Bengals will be able to pull off the win, they just have to keep Joe Burrow and Odell Beckham Jr. under wraps. I think that the final score will be close, like 24-21,” said junior Allison Cadena.
Last weekend, the Cincinnati Bengals, led by quarterback Joe Burrow, beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime after an extremely close game. Similarly, the L.A. Rams, led by quarterback Matthew Strafford, defeated the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 after both teams experienced up-and-down performances.
“I’m backing the Rams all the way. The biggest threat is definitely Burrow, especially if he comes out all dripped out before the game, I don’t know if there’s anything the Rams can do to stop him. As long as Strafford does his thing, I think the Rams got it 31-21,” said varsity football player and senior Jack Krill.
The Rams currently have a record of 15 wins and 5 loses, with the Bengals having a record of 13 wins and 7 loses. Both teams are evenly matched, and a battle for the win is expected within the confines of SoFi Stadium.
Students can tune into Super Bowl LVI as it kicks off at 3:30 P.M. on NBC. Whether you are watching the game for the wacky commercials or spectacular halftime show, get ready for a thrilling match, and may the best team win!
