San Luis Obispo has several beautiful hikes that San Luis Obispo High School students can try out now before the rain starts next week.
Not only do you get to see nature and improve your physical health, but hiking can also improve one’s mental health too.
“I enjoy hiking and it always seems to give me a positive mindset,” said freshman Riley O’Connor.
Being outdoors with nature reduces stress, anxiety, and also can reduce chances of clinical depression.
Hiking is not a cure for depression, but for numerous people with clinically diagnosed depression it has put them in a better mood and helped them with depressive thoughts.
So if one is looking for somewhere to hike there are great locations in SLO.
Terrace hill located on Bishop Street is a wonderful hike. It is not a challenging hike especially when entering the trail and taking the first left. It has a beautiful view that overlooks over all of Downtown SLO.
Another great spot is Irish Hills Nature Reserve. This is a little more challenging, but it has an even more beautiful view. It is located at Prefumo Canyon Rd & Isabella Way in SLO. It is a beautiful place to hit the pause button on life.
Beautiful places to hike, release stress, and to watch life are just a short drive away. Have a great day Tigers!
