San Luis Obispo High School’s (SLOHS) Book Club is starting up again this year. I attended the meeting today led by juniors Mutalé Malama and May Ritter to discuss the first book.
English teacher Keri Smith is the club advisor.
Malama and Ritter are very excited to be starting up book club again in person after having it on Zoom last year.
“I’m super ecstatic to have book club taking place in person this year! Club members will be able to be more involved. I’m really looking forward to having discussions in real life.” said Junior Mutalé Malama.
So far they have ten members but hope to see numbers rise. Their mission is to “rekindle the joy in the act of reading” through book club.
There were about nine options for the first read but by vote, the group decided on “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley.
The next meeting will be on September 27 during lunch in portable one. Consider signing up!
