Needless to say extracurriculars at San Luis Obispo High School have been altered significantly, many being cancelled because of quarantine restrictions.
The SLOHS drama club has persisted and already performed one virtual play, “The Party Hop”.
Next up is Shakespeare’s iconic comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing,” directed by senior Ian McKay under Artistic Director and adviser Noelle Eben. Unlike the previous online production, this play will be pre-recorded over several sessions and published on YouTube for people to view.
Despite the barriers keeping the actors from being able to perform on stage, there will be costuming, props, lighting, and even some form of set in each background. The cast rehearses for two hours almost every other day leading up to tech week, where the schedule and commitment gets more intense.
Even though it’s heartbreaking that they are unable to do a live, in person performance, the opportunity to come back and do theater after Covid restrictions have prevented them from performing for so long is amazing, and it’s so exciting for them to continue doing what they love!
Make sure to check out the digital premiere on April 23rd from 7-9:00 PM!
