As kids, a lot of people had very skewed perceptions of life because of their limited worldview and media consumption. Now that they’re teenagers, students at San Luis Obispo High School can look back at the ridiculous misconceptions they had as a child and laugh.
Some people based their assumptions about the world on their experiences in San Luis Obispo.
“I spent several years of my life thinking all shopping centers were just generally called ‘Marigold Centers’ because of the one with Vons in SLO,” said senior Evan Clausen. “It took me until age 8 or 9 to realize my mistake.”
Others simply interpreted how the world worked incorrectly.
“For a while I thought that the time of day changed at 1, not 12,” said senior Evelyn Harding.
Other common misconceptions about life that children have is being extremely concerned about things like quicksand, piranhas, and the Bermuda Triangle and thinking that they were going to be serious issues in the future that they’d have to encounter.
Luckily for us, we can now understand how the world works, for the most part.
