Tired of the the assigned books in your Zoom English class?
Join the newly started and virtual San Luis Obispo High School Book Club.
Started by sophomores Mutalé Malama, Carmen Joines, Katelyn Goldsmith, and Ellie Peterson, the club has already had one meeting and plans on meeting every Monday at 1p.m. The Google Classroom code is ikj6wvz.
“Last Monday, we voted on our first book, which is ‘The Age of Innocence’. We had about 15 members show up, mainly sophomores and one freshman,” said Goldsmith.
The club plans on providing the opportunity to read along with fellow members, and the chance to be involved in fun discussions regarding the various types of books within our world. The books will always be selected by club members.
“We are hoping to form a fun community within SLO High where students are able to have engaging discussions about these impressive books. If you do not consider yourself a book-lover, that is totally fine. However, we still encourage you to check out the club, for it can be an incredible opportunity to expand your knowledge within the realm of literature, as well as connect with other students,” said Goldsmith.
This might be a good opportunity for students to meet new people and get involved with SLOHS during this difficult time to create connections because of COVID-19.
