Earlier this year, the band Cage the Elephant released their new album, Social Cues which includes songs that could appeal to almost anyone at San Luis Obispo High School. This band has been mildly popular for a while due to their wide range of styles like indie, ‘80s inspired music, and more.
As the band has evolved over the years, their style has changed dramatically. They started with a bittersweet, melancholy, and sometimes cynical tone and evolved into more of an emotional, urgent, and eccentric sound. With this new release comes many new opinions regarding their stylistic choices, especially about the songs Broken Boy and House Of Glass, two darker, mildly-alternative songs.
“I love their new album. I just thought it was really well done, production-wise. Each and every one of the songs on the album were different and they’re all super catchy,” said freshman Kathryn Callarman.
The songs on their new album vary from Black Madonna, which is a very slow song, to more upbeat songs like Ready To Let Go. There are also songs such as Broken Boy and House Of Glass that are a bit darker and alternative-sounding. There is something for everyone in this new release.
“I went to their concert a few months ago. They were really good. My favorite song on the new album is probably Skin And Bones, Social Cues, or What I’m Becoming. I love all of them honestly, they were insane live,” Callarman continued.
There isn’t any reason to not listen to this newly released album. The variety can appeal to almost any music taste. To listen to covers and original songs by the interviewee, Kathryn Callarman, click the link below: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHco5h7QKI_MZtxH5W0CO_g
