Hey Zack, How Does Music Speak to You?

Hey+Zack%2C+How+Does+Music+Speak+to+You%3F

Music plays a large role in San Luis Obispo’s High School students’ everyday lives and is constantly changing as a result of their likes and preferences. From Indie to Jazz, music speaks to each of us in its own way and gains prevalence throughout the school for this very reason. With a multitude of genres and artists, it can be hard to precisely determine one’s favorite type of music, or per se, what’s trending. To dive deeper into the preferences of today’s youth regarding music, Expressions took it into their best interest to interview Senior Zachariah Maxwell to further our understanding of what music is gaining popularity throughout the school.

Expressions: What’s your favorite genre of music, and why?

Senior Zachariah Maxwell: I don’t know, I enjoy Hip-Hop I guess. I like Hip-Hop because it sounds nice and usually talks about interesting things.

Expressions: Who is your favorite Hip-Hop artist, and why?

Maxwell: Travis Scott, because he can do anything. He can sing, he can rap, and he can make beats hella well, but he looks hella weird when he dances. He just slaps, you know?

Expressions: What is your favorite song by Travis Scott?

Maxwell: Probably, “90210”.

Expressions: Why does that song stand out to you particularly?

Maxwell: I don’t know, it’s hella raw.

Expressions: If you could choose to be any Hip-Hop artists, which would it be and why?

Maxwell: Jay-Z, because Beyonce would be my wife and that’d be hella cool.
