Every year San Luis Obispo High School welcomes students from countries around the world. Expressions interviewed former German foreign exchange student Diana Fuchs, to find out about her experience at SLOHS, and her summer plans.
Expressions: What are your plans this summer?
Former Sophomore Diana Fuchs: I am going to stay in America for two weeks, and spend a couple of days in Washington D.C; then I’m going back to Germany.
Expressions: What will you miss the most about SLOHS?
Fuchs: The people.
Expressions: What are you looking forward to this summer?
Fuchs: I’m looking forward to seeing my family and my old friends, but also just spending as much time as possible with my friends here.
Expressions: What were your favorite memories from SLOHS?
Fuchs: My favorite memories from SLOHS were probably the cross country and swim meets, the dances – prom, in particular – since we do not have as many dances in Germany. I also enjoyed Mock Trial and participating in the musical “Footloose.” They’re all my favorites!
Expressions: Is there anything you regret not doing while in San Luis Obispo?
Fuchs: I wish I would have gone more often to the beach and gone hiking.
Expressions: What are your plans for the future?
Fuchs: I definitely want to keep traveling to different countries and meeting people, maybe even go to college in another country.
Expressions: What is something personal you’ve gained while at SLOHS?
Fuchs: Definitely language skills and confidence.
