On Thursday, May 18, the San Luis Obispo High School Ceramics class, led by the Ceramics and AP Art History teacher Amanda Eedle, participated to the fundraiser called Empty Bowls. The idea of the project is that students and local artists create hand crafted bowls and sell them to the community with the profit going to charity. This fundraiser had big success and our school created 500 bowls for the cause. Moreover in each bowl it was contained some food that was available for customers for free.
“Lot of people went to buy bowls and that was really cool, because it was for a good cause. We raised a lot of money and I’m proud of it,” said junior Kevin Hill.
Unfortunately the school did not sell all the bowls they made, but the project turned out to be a good and very constructive experience for students who participated. It’s always important to take care of those people who are suffering for hunger and poverty, and don’t have a house where to live. Everyone really enjoyed the bowls that were hand made by the students, and the good food as well.
