Last week was fierce for San Luis Obispo High School’s girls varsity swim team. Thursday, May 4, the lady Tigers took first at league finals.
“The points were so close that really everything contributed. The middle placings helped us more than getting first. Also, the divers helped us out a lot; they got us lots of points and did really well,” said junior Anna Peterson.
The 4×100 relay team including seniors Tyra Popovich, Sofia Terry, Sabrina Johnson, juniors Adelynn Peterson, Anna Peterson, Gabby Wood, sophomore Clea Wendt, and Freshman Sydney Cusick dropped time and made CIF for the freestyle relay.
Adelynn Peterson won both the 100 fly and the 100 back and made CIF consideration. Anna Peterson also dropped two seconds in the 100 back and made CIF consideration for the 100 free. With intense competition the win would not have been possible without the dive team scoring many points to contribute to the meet. Divers, sophomore Jackie Estes and junior Sophie Maino both made it to CIF.
