San Luis Obispo High School has many varieties of sports such as basketball, water polo, and football, but SLOHS doesn’t have a dodgeball team. Dodgeball is as much a sport as any other, yet most schools don’t have dodgeball teams. Though ASB at SLOHS does host tournaments for games that don’t have teams, dodgeball is a very well known sport.
“We have two students in charge of putting on the intramural tournaments,” said ASB director Jim Johnson.
Dodgeball is very exciting and would attract many people to watch and play. Some people want to play a low risk sport and dodgeball is exactly that. Expressions asked Senior William Fahey to hear what he had to say about SLOHS dodgeball tournament.
“It was cool. We didn’t win anything, but it was fun. It was nice and competitive.”
Concussions are possible if you get hit hard enough in the head, but most players know to go for the torso since it’s the widest part of the body.
If SLOHS starts a team a chain reaction will occur and cause other schools to form leagues and maybe play SLOHS in tournaments. Dodgeball should be a summer sport.
Dodgeball is much more than a game, it is a place for talent to be shown. Colleges might even send dodgeball talent scouts to give players scholarships.
