During lunch on the first Tuesday of October, the first-ever business club meeting was held at SLOHS in Social Science teacher and adviser Josiah Cameron’s room. The club was created to provide students with the opportunity to experience real-world entrepreneurship and develop connections with like-minded peers. The club is open to all grade levels and has already attracted dozens of students interested in learning what it’s like to run a business.
“Finding experiences like these in high school are hard to come by and help give students a headstart on real world business,” said junior Evan Aquino. “Right now we are just brainstorming some business ideas like dropshipping or making clothing.”
The club’s founders, junior Simon Gower and senior Diego Rosen, have had the idea to create the club since last spring. The two brainstormed what would make the best experience for students.
“We wanted to make it a place where students who are interested in all things business could come and learn and collaborate with each other,” said senior Diego Rosen.
The club’s main goal is to decide on and actually create a business and start running it, with each member playing a different role in the production.
“I want to move to Miami, build some crazy connections in stocks and finance, and build my own business,” said junior Russel Issa.
Business Club’s emphasis on teamwork and collaboration in order to deliver whatever they decide on offering creates strong habits and lessons that these students will remember forever.
Meetings are every Tuesday in room 170.
