After battling cancer for over a year, musician David Bowie died at the age of 69 on January 10. Bowie led many rock- pop movements and was known for constantly reinventing his music and persona. “From The Man Who Stole The World” to his most recent album “Blackstar”, many San Luis Obispo High School students are avid listeners of Bowie’s discography. Many were shocked when they heard the news of his death.
“David Bowie is by far one of the most influential people in my life. It feels a lot like I’ve lost a mentor or a family member,” said senior Kelly Doherty.
“He truly influenced music and it’s very sad that he’s gone,” said junior Breanna Chambers. Bowie wrote music about being an outsider and adventurer, something that many teens can relate to.
“Although I’m extremely saddened, I am happy to know that his music will live on forever,” said Doherty.
