Every year, San Luis Obispo High School holds the most prestigious event in the elementary school sports world.
All of the San Luis Coastal Unified School District elementary schools from all over the town send their sixth grade classes to meet in a fierce battle of athletics in what is known as the Tiger Olympics.
Teams compete in games such as football, basketball, kickball, and more. However, the main objective of the day for these kids isn’t winning, it’s having a good time. Many students and staff made strides to ensure that these kids would have the time of their lives while playing in their games.
“Tiger Olympics were super fun. I got to ref the football games and it was a great environment,” said sophomore Andrew Black.
Many students and staff were thrilled to watch the youngins play sports in such a fun environment. However, the elementary school kids weren’t just here to play sports, they were also involved in various academic activities throughout the day.
“Since I’m on the Model UN team, I’ll be part of the Model UN committee, and I’ll help students organize around for a practice Model UN session,” said sophomore Ethan Chen.
However, SLOHS students can’t tell the full story of what the day was like. To do that, Expressions knew that they had to ask some of the elementary students how their day went.
“We won the [football] championship, so that’s gotta feel good. I love that SLOHS has this tradition,” said Los Ranchos student Jack Ramira.
Clearly the students had a great time on Friday. Let’s continue to carry out this tradition, Tigers!
By the way, Teach Elementary won…
